Connecting Devices using the latest 5G Technology
HMS Networks is all about Connecting Devices™ - and in Hannover, we will show use cases for the latest cellular 5G technology. Together with other leading companies such as Ericsson and ABB, HMS will be part of the demo Flexible Production and Next Generation Employee, which is fully aligned with the vision of Industrie 4.0. The demo integrates material handling and factory automation into one solution for smart manufacturing. In the demo HMS enables data connectivity and flexible control over cellular between all connected devices.
The Hannover demo includes several products from HMS, all of which are designed to meet the requirements of demanding applications in the automation industry. In the demo, HMS’ industrial routers with Cellular, Ethernet and WLAN connectivity work alongside HMS’ Anybus Wireless Bolt™. Together, they enable seamless communication over wireless networks between industrial devices from various manufacturers, enabling smart and flexible control. A custom version of the innovative Wireless Bolt is a key component in the solution. Bolted onto a cabinet or a machine, it enables wireless access to any industrial equipment. Wireless transmission is made via Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy or WLAN technology. HMS’ wireless products are designed to meet the requirements of 5G, when this technology is introduced into factories and automation systems.
In this demo from Mobile World Congress, you can see Anybus Wireless Bolt as a key communication component in the solution for smart manufacturing. The mobile robot in the picture forms the missing link between an automated material handling solution and an automated production cell. Transportation of material and finished products has so far been a manual process. In this demo we show how this task can be fully automated.
